Science

September 2018

Turtles have been focusing on forces in science this term.

We were asked to investigate if we could make 2 identical pieces of A4 paper fall at different speed rates. First the class decided to try placing the pieces of paper vertically and horizontally. The class learned that surface area is important to how fast something falls. Because the horizontal piece had more surface area it fell slower then the vertical piece. Turtles class then learned that spheres normally have the least amount of surface area and are more likely to fall faster then a flat piece of paper.

Our class have been learning what the different forces are and their seperate functions. The forces we have mainly discussed are:

Gravity,

Air Resistance,

Friction,

Resistance,

Force(Of push).

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Hope'.

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. " John 1:5

In school we will be:

Exploring the concept of hope and how this relates to light.

Encouraging pupils to further develop a hopeful attitude.

Exploring how we can show hope by persevering and trying our best.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
