Sports Teams

Sport is welll underway at Meole this year.

We have just competed in our 2nd final of the year so far. After a tough final in the High Five Netball competition we moved on to the Tag Rugby this afternoon.

The children were amazing and played some very tough games against strong opposition. Congratulations to St Giles who were deserved winners of the trophy. There was a fantastic turnout from Shrewsbury Primary schools at the Rugby club this afternoon. If your child is interested in more rugby please visit the Shrewsbury Rugby Club website... http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/shrewsbury

Congratulations on a 5th final in 6 years Meole Brace.

Up next... Cross Country.

Our Cross Country Y6 boys team were close runners up to Prestfelde boys. They were fantastic as the weather was extremely cold. A huge well done and thank you to all the Y5/6 runners in such tricky conditions. Some children have qualified for the Shrewsbury Teams - Dylan Wood after winning the boys race in Y5. Well done Dylan.

We sent a team of footballers to the Severndale Inclusive Tournament at Power League this week and they had a great time, winning some and losing some. Overall, they came 3rd out of approx 12 schools. Well done boys.

Basketball  - We made it to the Semi finals of the basketball competition this week - A great effort and some very close games. Congratulations to St Giles - after beating us in the semis, they went on to win the trophy.

Tonight - U10s football at the Sports Village. Good luck lads!

Sportshall Athletics

We have retained a Trophy!

After 3 finals in a row without retaining one of the trophies we won last year, our Indoor Athletics team were amazing and won the overall event. The Girl's team came 1st while the Boy's team a close 2nd to Prestfelde. Our combined score meant we won the trophy again! Well done guys - an amazing effort! The Girls team will now go forward to the County Games in March to represent Shrewsbury.

U11 Lloyd Burton Trophy

Our Boys played brilliantly last night and were cruelly dumped into 3rd place with the last kick of our final game! SO close boys! We dominated every game, however couldn't convert our chances! Next time!

Our KS2 Indoor athletics team met Paralympian Double Gold medalist, Danielle Brown while attending the Winter Games finals.

Congratulations to our teams who represented Shrewsbury at the Winter County Games. Shrewsbury were the Champions AGAIN!!!

Although the winter weather is due to return, our sporting programme moves on to Summer Games after Easter. Orienteering will be the first event. Watch this space.

A huge well done to all children who have represented us in sport this term. To the parents, thank you for continuing support with letters, kits and transport.

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Thankfulness'.

In school we will be:

Exploring the concept of being thankful.

Encouraging pupils to develop further an appreciative and thankful attitude.

Encouraging pupils to show thankfulness in practical ways.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
