Sports Teams

Welcome to the Sports Area of the Website. We shall keep you updated on fixtures, results and hopefully, lots more success for our teams across the year.

Our U11 played in their first competition this week, narrowly missing out on progression to the next round. Unlucky boys but well played - especially in the last two games.

Well done to our U11 Girls Football team, who won all 5 of their games at TCAT on Wednesday afternoon. They have qualified for the 2nd round, next Wednesday. Congratulations and well played girls!

Last week, our Indoor Athletics Team went to defend their trophy at the Sports Village against 15 other schools.

Everyone gave 100% and their general behaviour and attitude was Fantastic!

Both the Girls' and Boys' points were added together and we were top of the standings! Congratulations everyone. 3 Years in a Row!!!!

It has been a very busy end to the half term! Our Netball team has defended their Shrewsbury Development League title for a 10th victory in the last 13 years! A remarkable achievement. Well done girls!

Our Y6 cricketers competed yesterday in their indoor competition and then some went to the Sports Village in the afternoon to compete in the Shrewsbury Games Cross Country Y5/6. We had some fantastic runners with Jesse grabbing the 1st place in the Y5 Boys race! Well done all who took part.

School Games Week

What a busy week we have had. After several postponements to Cricket and Rounders tournaments, we have had some indoor games to keep us ticking over!

Wednesday - Dodgeball. A very hectic tournament where we had great fun against Mereside, Greenacres and Martin Wilson. We won our group and progressed to the Quarter Finals. Unfortunately, we lost to second Mereside team on the last throw of the game. We then battled for the 5th/6th place. Overall we placed 6th out of 14 teams. A great effort and the children were amazing, fielding for other teams and gave 100% in their matches.

Thursday - Archery and New Age Kurling.  Both our teams absolutely loved the afternoon and while the A team were trying to remove suckers from their foreheads, our B team were the overall champions and won the trophy! Congratulations B team.

New Age Kurling - This is a sport we have been very successful in over the past few years. The children were amazing and had some very close battles. For the fourth year in a row, we were the victors against Harlescott in a very tight final which came down to the last stone. Well done. Gabby had never played before and the amount of stones she landed dead on the centre was fantastic. Congratulations to them and also the 2nd team who finished 7th overall out of 16 teams.  4 in a row!

Friday - the Y3/4 Golfers are playing this morning while this afternoon we have Cricketers (Indoor), Tennis Players, Y5/6 Golfers and a Change For Life team will be aiming for more enjoyment and success at the Sports Villlage.

Watch this space!

The Rounders has been rearranged for next Friday - 21st June and Cricket looks to be later in the month for Y6 Boys, Girls and Y5 teams. Thank you for your understanding with the cancellations and postponements - some cricket fields are still huge puddles! Let's hope summer is on its way before it's too late!

What a week we've had!!!! Rounders... Champions! They were amazing and Miss Robson was so proud of the way the team behaved, played and won the Shrewsbury School Games Rounders competition. Well done everyone. It makes it even more special when other members of staff come and commend, not only the children'e behaviour, but their style of play. Fantastic!

Yesterday, the Y6 Cricket finals were played and we made the final after winning some very tight matches against schools from Church Stretton and Telford. We played Priorslee in the final and lost by a mere 8 runs! It was a great final and although the boys were disappointed, they came away with their heads held high.... and some bling! Well done lads.

The phrase "Always the bridesmaid" springs to mind.... Last night was the 61st Area Athletics Championships at London Road. Meole Brace were fantastic and gave 100%. It was a record breaking evening for our U12 4x100 relay girls and medals galore. Our team came 2nd to a huge points tally from St Giles who won it for a 3rd year in a row! Welll done everyone who took part.

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Thankfulness'.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will." I Thessalonians 5:18

In school we will be:

Exploring the concept of thankfulness and how this relates to our school value of Community.

Encouraging pupils to further develop a thankful attitude.

Exploring how we can show thanks.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
