History

At Meole Brace we pride ourselves on a rich and engaging history curriculum which provides the basis for cross curricular learning in the classroom.

During their school career, children will develop their knowledge and understanding of the history of Great Britain and of the wider world, including ancient civilisations. They will develop understanding of historical concepts such as continuity and change, cause and consequence, and use appropriate historical vocabulary when discussing these concepts. Whilst exploring different topics, children will develop their skills of historical enquiry, considering a range of evidence to help them draw conclusions.

We pride ourselves on providing our children with a stimulating range of activities, including examining artefacts, exploring different sources of information and extra curricular visits.

We use our topics as a rich basis for planning across the curriculum, providing the children with a range of exciting, engaging and meaningful contexts in which to develop, embed and apply their knowledge. They are mapped out carefully to ensure appropriate coverage across all year groups and to allow for the consolidation of key concepts as well as for progression in, and deepening of knowledge and skills.

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Respect'.

"Show proper respect to everyone" Peter 2:17

In school we will be:

Exploring our core school value of Respect.

Encouraging pupils to show respect for themselves, for each other and for everyone we meet.

Exploring how we can respect and celebrate difference.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
