Year 3 - Sharks 2019 - 2020

6th July 2020

Good morning Sharks,

I hope you all had a good week last week. Again, I had a lovely Friday afternoon getting to see most of you on our virtual online meetings which was fantastic. I even got to do a virtual meeting with the children in school aswell which was lovely. I really enjoyed hearing all of your 'good news' stories that you had found; they definitely cheered me up on what was quite a cloudy and gloomy afternoon.

I will be sending out invitations soon for the meetings taking place this coming Friday (10th July) so make sure you remember to log in to Teams and accept the invitiations. I will try and mix up the groups again as I want to see if I can get you to see as many differnet people as possible each week. Remember to bring along a book that you have read, either during lockdown or before, and be ready to explain why you enjoyed that book.

You will see that I have uploaded the work for this week on the 'Home Learning' tab of the class page. This week, we are starting a new book on Fiction Express, one that is linked to a previous topic so I hope you enjoy the story.

As I'm sure you all know now aswell, next year you will be in Sealions class and Mr Pharo will be your teacher. I have already told him how lucky he is to be having you next year and you will soon recieve an invitation to a 'virtual move up morning' taking place with him. This will be a bit like our virtual meetings, and will happen on Teams. It will be a great chance to get to know Mr Pharo and find out about an exciting project to do over the summer.

Of course, if you want to get in touch with me, please send me an email ( You might be struggling a bit with some of the work set or you might just want to send me a picture or an update of something you have been doing.

I hope you have a lovely week and remember I'm always here if you need anything.

Stay safe and have fun.

29th June 2020

Hello Sharks,

I hope you are all staying safe and keeping busy at home. It was absolutely brilliant to be able to see some of you on our virtual online meetings on Friday afternoon. I really enjoyed seeing what you had all been getting up to and having a chat about how we are all feeling at the moment. I hope you enjoyed seeing some of your fellow Sharks too.

I will be sending out invitations to the next set of meetings (taking place this Friday 3rd July) soon. Your meeting might be at a slightly different time as, like I said on Friday, I'd really like you to have the chance to see as many different Sharks as possible each week. Remember the little task I asked you to do over the week aswell; go searching for a 'good news' story. This could be something good that's happening in your family, the wider community or even somewhere around the world. When we were in school, back in March, we saw some dolphins that had returned to the rivers in Venice and saw the Italian people singing to eachother on their balconies which made us smile. Take a look around for something happening right now that makes you feel good (there might be some videos on Newsround that you could take a look at).

You will see the new work for the week has been uploaded on the Home Learning tab of the class page, so do look at it and have a go. We are on the final chapter of our story, 'The House on Strange Street' and I know I'm very curious to find out what happens at the end!

As always Sharks, if you want to get in touch because you are finding something a little tricky or you want to show me what you are doing, please do email me ( It really makes me smile when I see an email waiting in my Inbox from one of you.

Have a good week Sharks and I'm already looking forward to seeing some of you again on Friday.

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Community'.

"How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!" Psalm 133:1

In school we will be:

Exploring our core school value of Community.

Encouraging pupils to show community spirit.

Exploring the local and wider communities we are a part of.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
