Year 1 - Polar Bears 2017 - 2018

Mrs Evans

This week, we look forward to the KS1 disco on Thursday after school. If your child is coming to the disco, please send their party clothes in a bag for them to change into at the end of the school day.

In Literacy this week, we are continuing with our targeted teaching of Phase 3 phonemes through word and sentence level work. We will be concentratrating on the consonant digraphs - th, sh, ch and ng. Please encourage your child to sound talk their weekly spellings when they practise these at home. We will also be writing a story either about The Dragons or The Hot Air Balloon.

In Maths, we will be continuing with 2D and 3D shape work as well as doing some assessments on addition, subtraction, number bonds to 10 and word problems.

Spellings to be tested on 16.02.18 are as follows:

Group 1:   this, that, fish, such, long

Group 2:  thicker, brother, shocked, chicken, hanging

We hope you all have a lovely half-term and that the children come back to school full of energy for the last five weeks of term!

Christian Theme of the Month

The Christian theme for this half term is 'Thankfulness'.

In school we will be:

Exploring the concept of being thankful.

Encouraging pupils to develop further an appreciative and thankful attitude.

Encouraging pupils to show thankfulness in practical ways.

Parents and carers, please help us at home to support your child in their understanding of the above concepts.
